Probate and Estate Administration
You’re not alone
Probate and Estate Administration – What You Need to Know
After a loved one passes and you’re named the Executor or Administrator of their estate, you’re not alone. We can help you. We understand this can feel like an overwhelming process, especially after death. At Auld Brothers, our focus is in Estate Administration. While in Probate we help handle estate matters, avoid problems, minimize expenses, and close the case as efficiently as possible.
Executor or Administrator of the Estate
If a loved one had a Will at their passing and selected someone to handle their estate, that person is called an Executor. If a loved one didn’t have a Will when they passed, the Register of Wills Office selects an Administrator to handle the person’s estate. Whether you’re named the Executor or Administrator, we’ll help guide you through the Probate process and provide you with Estate Administration services as needed.
Starting the Probate and Estate Administration Process in Pennsylvania
The Estate Administration process begins after the person has passed. Then the Probate process is started by filing a Petition for Probate with the Register of Wills Division in the Court of Common Pleas in the County where the individual resided. Then you’ll need to review their assets, holdings, and liabilities while estimating the total sum of everything.
As probate lawyers, we will organize and review:
-
- Estate assets
- Financials
- Investments
- Identify potential creditors or claims against the estate
- Legal documents
- Required paperwork
